An egg sinker is designed to move. It slides freely on the main line, so when a fish picks up your bait and swims off it feels no resistance at all — no lead to spook it into dropping the bait before you come tight.

Half an ounce is a light, inshore-friendly weight, right for live bait on the flats, around docks and in the bays where you want depth without deadening the bait.
