Braided main line across the test range, for everything from light inshore spinning to heavy offshore jigging setups.

Braid earns its place in saltwater on two counts. It is far thinner than mono at the same strength, so you fit dramatically more line on a spool — which matters the first time a kingfish or a big amberjack takes off and does not stop. And it has effectively no stretch, so a bite at 200 feet on a vertical jig actually reaches your hand, and a hookset at that depth actually moves the hook.

The no-stretch cuts both ways. There is no shock absorption, so you fish a slightly softer drag and you always run a fluorocarbon or mono leader — for abrasion resistance, for invisibility in clear Gulf and Atlantic water, and to give the system some give.
