Trolling is how you find fish in an ocean that is mostly empty. Instead of waiting on a spot, you cover miles of water with several baits out at once and let the fish tell you where they are. A spread works because it looks like a small school rather than one lonely baitfish.

Vary the lures rather than running matched ones. Different shapes swim at different depths and speeds, so a mixed spread searches more of the water column and gives you a genuine read on what the fish want that day.

Pull them along weed lines, colour changes, rips and structure from the Gulf edge to the Atlantic stream. Mahi, blackfin, wahoo and kingfish all come from the same spread.
