Collection: Slapper Baits

Slapper soft plastic baits in 3 inch, in the color range that produces inshore.

Three inches is the size that matches most of what inshore fish are actually eating — small pilchards, finger mullet, glass minnows and shrimp. It is big enough for a slot redfish to bother with and small enough that a picky trout on a slack tide will still commit.

The paddle tail is doing the work. It thumps on a steady retrieve, putting out vibration that fish find on the lateral line in the stained water you get around the Gulf bays and the Louisiana marsh, well before they ever see the bait.

Fish them on a sweeper or Hog Ball jig head. Olive and natural in clear water, pink and white when it is dirty or low light.
