Split shot sinkers across the size range, for adding a small amount of weight exactly where you want it.

Split shot is the finesse tool in a saltwater box. Sometimes a live shrimp needs to get eighteen inches deeper and nothing more — a full sinker would kill its action entirely and get your bait refused, while a single pinched shot gets it down and lets it keep swimming naturally.

It is also the answer for fine-tuning a rig on the water. Add one, take one off, move it up or down the leader, all without cutting a thing.

Standard technique on the flats for snook, redfish and trout when fish want a bait presented deeper than freelining puts it but will refuse anything that looks weighted.
