Collection: Single Strand Shark Rigs
Shark rigs built on single strand wire leader.
Single strand is thinner and far less visible in the water than cable at the same breaking strength, which matters more than most people expect. Blacktips and spinners in clear Gulf water will shy off a heavy cable leader and eat a single strand rig presented the same way.
It is also stiffer, so it holds a bait out away from the main line and resists tangling on the cast or the kayak drop.
The limitation is kinking. Single strand takes a permanent bend when a fish rolls in it, and a kink is a break waiting to happen — check the wire after every fish and retie when you find one. For blacktips, spinners and smaller sharks, that trade is well worth the extra bites.
