Collection: Mutu Circle Hooks

Mutu circle hooks in black nickel, sized from light inshore work up through heavy bottom fishing.

The Mutu is a heavier-wire circle hook, and the extra steel is the entire reason to choose one. A light circle hook is fine on a slot redfish and will open like a paper clip on a big grouper that gets its head down into structure — at which point the fight is over and the fish keeps your rig.

Circle hook technique still applies and still catches people out. Do not swing. Let the rod load as the fish moves off and start winding; the hook rotates to the jaw corner on its own. Setting hard pulls the point out before it ever turns.

Black nickel finish holds up in salt far better than bare steel. These are legally required for reef fish in federal Gulf and South Atlantic waters.
