The round head is the most honest jig shape there is. It falls straight, it stands up on the bottom, and it does not plane off sideways in current the way a darter or arrow head will. That makes it the right head when you are tipping with shrimp or cut bait and you want the bait to sit where you dropped it.

The octopus hook is the reason these stick. Short shank, offset point, wide gap — it turns into the corner of the jaw on a slow bite instead of pulling straight out, which is exactly what you need on mangrove snapper, sheepshead and any other fish that inhales and spits.

Chartreuse is the workhorse in the stained Gulf water. Run white and pink when it cleans up.
