The #4 is a small hook — right for speckled trout, whiting, small pompano and the days when fish are picking rather than eating. Small hooks get taken cleanly by fish that will inspect and refuse a bigger one.

The fluorocarbon leader disappears in clear water, which matters most at exactly the moment you have downsized because fish are being difficult.
